The site visit

To insure the success of your District Conference 2003
the District Conference team visited Sea Trail Resort and Golf Links
on the weekend of March 15, 2003. It was a damp weekend as you
can tell from the photos below... The staff of Sea Trail was busy
recovering from a bitter winter season.

Enter Sea Trail property using the North Entrance, off of Old Georgetown Road.

Some members of the District Conference Team make final plans.

Even though it was damp, the conference center provided warmth and charm . . .

Large lobbies promise comfortable meetings.

Sea Trail provides gardens that encourage you to wander . . .

Beautiful, even on a cool misty morning

While the greens are being spruced up. (Our accomodations are in the background!)

...and the flags are being unfurled...

But Watch Out!

This projectile was found in a garden just feet away from Missy & Henry's Governormobile!

Come and collect shells such as this at Sunset Beach!

Information about the President's Representative. . .

ELLIOT I. LOWENSTEIN

Elliot I. Lowenstein, a Certified Public Accountant, graduated from Boston University as a member of the Honor Society of the School of Business Administration. His first 19 years in the Accounting profession, he practiced with two firms with emphasis on international accounting, real estate, leisure time industry, health care, and related tax planning. To focus on his expertise, in 1986 Elliot founded Lowenstein & Company, C.P.A.s, PA; a firm that serves the personalized needs of closely held companies with emphasis on tax planning for persons conducting business both domestically and internationally.

Elliot's Rotary career began in 1972 in the Rotary Club of South Miami, where he served as Secretary and as a multiple year Board Member. Eight years later, Elliot became a charter member of the Rotary Club of Miami Sundown, a club in which he became president as well as held a number of other offices. Currently, Elliot is a member of the Rotary Club of Miami West.

In District 6990, Elliot has served, either as Chair or as a member of numerous committees to include Group Study Exchange Coordinator, Youth Exchange, Finance and Procedures, Rotaract, District Secretary, Assistant Governor as well as District Governor (RI Year 2000/01). Elliot is also a Foundation Alumni having volunteered and participated in multiple matching grants including a $300,000 3H grant in Trinidad and Tobago for the assistance and training of persons with disabilities. One of Elliot's current responsibilities in District 6990 is the Chairmanship of the Polio Eradication Committee.

In November 2000, Elliot Chaired the Host Committee for the R.I. North American Presidential Conference in Miami, Florida. Elliot has served as Zone 34 Coordinator for the Family Values Task Force and as a two year Trustee for the Rotary GridIron Classic Committee. He is presently Zone 34 Coordinator for the Avoidable Blindness Tasks Force and also serves as a United Stated Representative for New Models for Rotary Clubs Pilot Program (a three year commitment).

Elliot's community involvement is not limited to Rotary. He has been an active fundraiser on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association, Optimists, Easter Seal Society and Leukemia Society. His leadership has been demonstrated as a member of the Sylvester Cancer Advisory Board, as President and current executive board member of the Transplant Foundations of South Florida. Elliot has also served as a multi-year member of the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, as well as Chairman of the Budget & Audit Board for the City of Coral Gables.

Elliot and his partner, Pat "JustPat" (currently President of the Rotary Club of Miami West), are both Paul Harris Fellows, Level III Bequest Society Members and are avid humanitarian community workers. They live in Pinecrest, Florida and have three children, Mindy, Kurt and Shannon. Pat and Elliot's home was and still is always open to any and all who need a home. On four occasions, the Lowenstein family has serves as host for Rotary Youth Exchange students from Finland, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and GSE Team from New Zealand.

Proudly, Elliot is the son of a forty-five year Rotarian (a Paul Harris Fellow) from the Rotary Club of Fall River, Massachusetts.
