To: District 7690 Rotary Clubs and Rotarians

This year our district will sponsor an applicant for a Global Grant Scholarship which funds international graduate-level coursework or research in any one of Rotary’s six areas of focus. Visit the links above for details about the program.

The deadline for applications to the District is January 15.

I encourage your club to champion an applicant! No matching funds are required from your club, just a willingness to identify and assist a potential scholar in the application process.

As you know, there are seven Rotary Peace Centers around the world. Each year, the Foundation funds up to 130 Peace Fellowships for enrollment in master’s or certificate programs in a field of study related to peace and conflict resolution. Our district can sponsor a candidate for this program. As more information about this opportunity is available we will share it with you.

Please share this information with your club members. Rotarians who are affiliated with local colleges and universities may be especially interested in these opportunities.

As we approach Peace and Conflict Prevention Month in February, I would like to offer several other opportunities to take action for peacebuilding. So, my final request is that you designate a club member to be a liaison to receive and share information on peace initiatives. I would be incredibly grateful if you would reply to me by November 30 with your Peace Liaison name and contact information.

Thank you so much for considering these requests and for your leadership in your clubs during this especially challenging year.

Wishing you peace and good health,
Lynn Thompson
