More about Barbara Finley

Barbara has been the Executive Director of the Fordyce Chamber of Commerce since 1989. She is a member of the Arkansas Chamber of Commerce Executives and is a graduate of the Community Development Institute at the University of Central Arkansas. She is a member of the Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center in Arkansas, a group for the preservation of the Ozark folk culture and has served as its chair two terms. Barbara is one of the co-founders of the Dallas County Museum and serves on the Museum Board. She is a graduate of LeadAR, a Leadership Program of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and as a result spent 16 days on an International Study Tour of both North and South Vietnam in 2001.

Currently, she is the President of the Fordyce Scholarship Association, one of the largest private scholarship foundations in the state and is the Treasurer of the Fordyce Area United Way. She serves on the Board of Arkansas’ South Tourism Region and was named the 2002 Tourism Person of the Year for Dallas County. She is the recipient of the Teamwork Arkansas Alton K. Bush Leadership Award for 1997, an award given annually to an Arkansan exhibiting outstanding leadership abilities. Barbara is a member of the Arkansas Women’s Forum and the International Women’s Forum.

She has been involved in the writing of grants that started the 911 Emergency Response System in Dallas County, and most recently, a grant to purchase and remodel a historic building in Fordyce to provide incubator office space for new business start-ups.

Barbara joined the Fordyce Rotary Club in 1991 as its first female member and served as its first female President. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor. In District 6170, she chaired the Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee for five years, has served as Assistant Governor and as District Governor.

She and husband Joe are the parents of four adult children, Brian, Allison, Jonathan and Tyler, and spouses Greg, Courtney and Kristi. They are proud grandparents of Alex, Grace and Caroline.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Fordyce, she has taught youth and adult Sunday School, Youth Handbells, Children’s Choir and currently sings in the Adult Choir.

More about Bob Newton

Bob is a member of the Rotary Club of Greensboro, having joined the club in 1987. His sponsor was his Dad, PDG Ernest Newton, himself a Rotarian since 1935. Grandfather L. L. Newton and son Cory round out four generations of Rotarians in the Newton family. Bob served as President of the Greensboro club in 1998-99, the year the club became at the time the largest 100% Paul Harris club in the Rotary world. Bob has been active in international service, and has traveled to Russia, Moldova, and Mexico in support of Rotary projects.

Bob is President of the Moses Cone-Wesley Long Community Health Foundation in Greensboro, the latest of six positions in health care management and finance he has held since graduation from the University of Wyoming and a tour with the Air Force. He and his wife Donna have lived in Greensboro since 1982 following their marriage. The merged families include six children and twenty one grandchildren. Bob and Donna enjoy their family, travel, and a wide range of community activities and involvement.
