Rotarians from across District 7690 recently gathered to support the Walk for Peace. Started by a group of Buddhist monks from Fort Worth, Texas, the walk aims to promote peace, compassion, and non-violence. It began in late October, and is expected to end in Washington, DC in late February.

The Walk for Peace made several stops across North Carolina, including the Grandover Resort. That visit marked day 87 of the walk, and the monks were greeted with a peace sign made from flower petals. According to the Walk for Peace official Facebook page, “It was truly special to see so many people arriving...and we are deeply grateful for all the warm hearts who came out to support us.”

A group of about a dozen local Rotarians, including current District Governor Mark Brandon, District Governor Nominee Anant Venkataraman, and past District Governor Claudia Cannady were among those gathered that evening to wish the monks safe travels as they continued their journey. It was an incredible experience and one that we were grateful to share together as Rotarians.
