District 7690 recently gathered in the Imperial Room at the Koury Convention Center to celebrate The Rotary Foundation. The event featured keynote speaker, Larry Lunsford, the 2027-2028 Rotary International President. The event celebrated our clubs’ and members’ generous contributions to our Rotary Foundation and all the service work we do locally and abroad.

In addition to a delicious dinner, and plenty of time for fellowship, the event committee worked hard to plan many exciting events. The highlight was Rivals for Rotary, in which four esteemed Rotarians, RIPN Larry Lunsford, RID Patrick Eakes, DG Mark Brandon and DGN Anant Venkataraman begrudgingly agreed to wear their rival’s jerseys if they raised the most money. See what all the hype was about here: Rivals for Rotary FUNdraiser. Congratulations to fundraising winner/jersey-wearing loser Mark Brandon, and check him out in a Duke jersey below!

There were also live auctions including a wine tasting with the Eakes, tickets to the sure-to-sell out Florida Duke basketball game, and a fabulous Oak Island beach getaway.

Seating proximity was based on percentage attendance by club. Kudos to Rotary Club of Southern Guilford for leading the pack with highest percentage attendance. We were delighted to have over 300 Rotarians attend! And for the second year in a row, we had the honor of hosting one of RI’s most distinguished leaders. Let’s continue to demonstrate our District’s unwavering commitment to our Rotary Foundation. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s banquet!
