Don is a member of the Rotary Club of Asheboro, having joined Rotary in 1982. Don served as president of the Asheboro club in 1990-1991, and he has had perfect attendance for 20 years. He has served the district as an assistant governor for two years. Both Don and his wife are Paul Harris Fellows and Bequest Society members.

Don graduated from Pfeiffer College with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. After service Don continued his education at Duke University where he received a Masters of Divinity. After receiving his masters, the Allreds settled in Asheboro to open a business, Duel, Inc. The business grew into five stores.

Don has been very active in the Asheboro community serving on the Board of Directors for the Asheboro Carolina Bank, the Randolph Chorale, the Randolph County Tourism Development Authority, the Senior Adults Association, the Merce Clinic of Randolph County and the RCS Workforce Development Board. He has also been a lay leader in the Central United Methodist Church and is a past president of the Randolph/ Asheboro Chamber of Commerce.

Don and his wife Pat have two children, Dustin and Beth. The Allreds are semi-retired, but they continue to do video production work from their home.
