W. B. was born January 14, 1924 in Live Oak, Florida.  He attended local public schools and received recognition for his high school football play.

He volunteered for the United States Army in 1942 and served 18 months in France and Germany.

He attended both the University of Florida and Florida State University.

He was married to Rachel Smothers Hull from Summerfield, North Carolina and they had two sons.

He began his career involved in tobacco warehousing management.  He was a director of the Bright Leaf Belt Warehouse Association.

In 1967, he was the founder and chairman of Electrifleet Inc. and then purchased Piedmont Tire Co.

He served on the boards of directors of Greensboro Community Center, the Boys Club, the General Greene Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Bankers Trust of North Carolina.

He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and received a distinguished service award as a Master Mason.

He served on the board of the Irving Park West United Methodist Church.

He was former owner of Airport Electric Co., a member of Greensboro City Club, the Greensboro Country Club, and an Army veteran of World War II.

He joined the Rotary Club of Summit (Greensboro) in 1971 and served as club president in 1981-82.  He served as district governor in 1987-88.

He and his wife were both Paul Harris Fellows.  They hosted a number of GSE team members.  He was chair of the 1984 District Conference.

Worth died at age 66 on October 5, 1990 and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro.
