November is Rotary Foundation Month
November has begun and with it, we all begin the Holiday Seasons, leaves continue to fall from the trees, it begins to get colder as fall and winter approach, and we fall back as daylight savings time ends.
November is also Foundation month in the world of Rotary and District 7690 along with Districts all over the world will be celebrating The Rotary Foundation with a Foundation Banquet. As most of you know, District 7690’s Foundation Banquet will be on Saturday November 12th at the Koury Center in Greensboro. I hope you able to join us as we celebrate the Rotary Foundation and the work our District has done through this very fine organization.
District 7690 has a rich legacy in supporting the Foundation with all-time giving of over $18 million. Our District receives District Designated Funds from the Foundation annually and District Leadership distributes these funds to our Clubs to assist them in projects in their communities. For this Rotary year, District 7690 approved 56 District Grants for just over $91,000 and club matches of over $98,000. In addition, District 7690 approved 42 grants for the District Project Enhancement Grant for $16,800. The District has 2 Global Grants in draft stage and 1 in approval stage. All these District Grants and Global Grants are made possible by you, the members of Rotary District 7690 and your contributions to the Rotary Foundation. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!!!!!!
As the DRFC for District 7690, I am sharing news from the Rotary Foundation website to help you understand the power of the Rotary Foundation.
The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects
that change lives both close to home and around the world.
Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.
Our mission
The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
What impact can one donation have?
- For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio.
- $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
- $500 can launch an antibullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.
“Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.” – Paul Harris, Rotary Founder
July 2022 – It’s A New Rotary Year
July 1, 2022 has arrived and a new Rotary year has begun. Excitement is evident in all our clubs as new Presidents accept the gavel of leadership. In addition, District 7690 has new leadership been named in District roles as well. In my case, I have been asked and selected to serve as the District Rotary Foundation Chair for District 7690 for the next three years. It is an honor and responsibility that I do not take lightly.
As with all new roles and the beginnings of a new year, leaders have been setting goals for the upcoming year. Your District Foundation Committee has been spending time doing that very thing and I thought it would be appropriate to share out Foundation goals with you, our members.

The mission of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. Since its creation in 1917, The Rotary Foundation has grown into a global force for good, thanks to the generosity of Rotarians and friends of Rotary who share our vision for a better world. Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary’s main objective is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Arch Klumph’s idea for an endowment fund dedicated to “doing good in the world” planted the seed for The Rotary Foundation in 1917. That one idea and an initial contribution of $26.50 set in motion a powerful force for good that has transformed millions of lives around the globe.
